Last year, TV3 (a Catalan television station) put out a comedy series called “El Crac” with one of our favourite Catalan Actors, Joel Joan. It became a weekly must see for my friends and I, with guaranteed laughs and a clever, witty script.
One of the great things about it was that it was all filmed in Barcelona. As a resident you could easily recognise a lot of the places featured in the show, including the restaurants. So when it was restaurant week a few months ago, my friend Leah and I couldn’t resist booking at Citrus, one of restaurants featured on the show in one of the funniest episodes, and we were not dissapointed.
During restaurant week, there were special deals on at some of the most chic places in town. Citrus is located smack bang in the centre of the city, perfectly situated on Passeig de Gracia with views out onto this main shopping strip. They pride themselves on a gourmet mediterranean cuisine – traditional dishes with a modern twist. Their desserts are delicious and they have a wide selection of wines to choose from – over 100 varieties.
For seconds, we tried the steak and the fish. A full fillet steak of beef accompanied with chips and a mushroom and onion mix. Perfectly cooked full of outhwatering flavour.
Leah tried the fish, which was accompanied with veggies and potato mash.
And after all this, we still had room for dessert… A classic chocolate fondant with nuts, and a modern take on an apple tartlet with raisins…
An absolutely delicious and complete meal at an incredible price, the atmosphere and the views made this a very special dinner.
If you are looking for a mix of classic and modern Catalan cuisine – don’t hesitate to step into Citrus and try their delectable menu!
